Connecting with an artist is as easy as relating to their story and feeling the emotions weaved into each beat or chord. But it's the distinct use of language (& I mean genres) which makes every artist unique. This week I want you to meet Livv Megan, a young Pop Music artist I discovered at my school's Music Industry Club. Megan is a singer/songwriter, producer based in Los Angeles, CA who dabbles in alternative and indie influences to create the right sound to tell each of her stories.
"All these lost, memories, bittersweet. Lovely.
Her most recent track "Fallin" reflects the reminiscence of the routines people miss from someone once close to them. The song begins with a refreshing line that takes us back to a moment of light and remembrance filled with nostalgia. Maybe there's been a time in your life after being separated from a loved one in which you've healed just enough to start recollecting the happy moments in the relationship. That's the moment and emotion that Megan's lyrics and the music pair so nicely to portray.

"Refresh, I'm okay smile and breathe, I'm starting to think of a time there wasn't grief." -Livv Megan
The use of beats reminiscent of dance music intertwined with alternative give the song the power to evoke the happiness in the first verse, the nostalgia and grief throughout the song, and hope in the chorus. Every beat reflects an emotion Megan is feeling and trying to relate to us
--- it's an amazing piece.
Another instance where Megan uses her production and vocals to hypnotize us into an outer space filled with feelings of love and loss is her track titled "Just a Moon". I say hypnotize because along with the heavy alternative vibes incorporated in this piece, Megan's sweet sweet voice are almost impossible to ignore. You're sure to fall into a trance of reflection and light. The song makes me think of someone leaving their friends to be next to 'the moon' who sheds light on their life when it's dark. The moon's light is a beautiful metaphor for the love and happiness a partner gives their significant other. And like the song says, people don't always stay forever, we tend to keep moving and we eventually miss the love in our friends we had from the beginning and left behind.
"I'm just a moon, In a day I'll move." -Livv Megan
Music has helped Megan through tough times and to express happiness. Now, we can use her music and most personal stories to help us through our toughest times and take our happiest emotions to a transcending stage along with Megan. All thanks to her first ukulele in High School which inspired her to start writing songs. It's crazy what passion can lead to! For her it was a surprise endorsement from Drake Bell and new attention towards "Fallin". Don't miss the upcoming music video for the track "Fallin" expected in the next few months. Follow Livv Megan for updates and new music coming soon <3 Here are some of her top tracks meanwhile we wait...
