A Twist On Vulnerability

I promised a story you could relate to each week, now imagine every genre to be a different approach to each emotion, a distinct language. Today I'm sharing a very special collection of sentiments put together to show the power and origin of the 'she-devil' in a relationship. Abby Jim is a Junior in college and rising star who knows no genre limitations. Abby's music extends from sounds of r&b to Urban Latin depending on which language she feels best to tell her next story of resilience, love, heartbreak, etc.
Now the title, "Diabla" (She-Devil), might reference to a woman, but the emotions
weaved in this track can be felt by anyone regardless of gender. The rhythms you'll hear are heavily Urban influenced with hints of instrumentation similar to electric/slow blues, which give the lyrics a certain flame and Abby's soft voice a kick of fierceness. After listening I sensed a feeling of power and felt like I wasn't wrong to protect my heart often. Who's been in a relationship where you feel the other person only wants control, only tells you they love you but can't see it through to the end? If you've ever been hurt chances are you will build up a defense system so strong that some will see you as a 'Diabla'.
"He's calling me the Devil just cause I don't wanna let him in."-Abby Jim
Abby says she hopes her listeners find their careless, badass alter ego in this song, and let me tell you girl, mission accomplished. Not having your feelings reciprocated means that relationship is not worth you or your time! To my readers, listen to this and remind yourself of who you are, what you're capable of, and what your worth is. Take some time to feel like a King/Queen. Why not?
"But what you want is not to love me, What you want is to say you can leave me. Por eso ser Diabla es mejor que dar mi córazon."- Abby Jim
In this song Abby reminded us to take ownership of our emotions and our vulnerability, even when it means taking our alter ego out for a ride. Check out her recent single "Toys" for a more mellow r&b flow speaking on love!
BTW It's Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrate with your brothers and sisters by adding Reggaeton to your playlist this week.
